MAPPING AND ALLIANCES
A model for mapping and establishing formal and sustainable “alliances” between schools and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
“The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination” (John Schaar)
Think global – act local – learn glocal is our motto. We aim to engage teachers and young people in thinking and reflecting upon global problems whilst acting locally. Eduglocal connects formal and informal education institutions in 5 EU countries to develop civic and social competences in the younger generations, as the very basis for a responsible and active citizenship in the World of the XXI Century.
The project’s main goal is to develop didactic tools and resources to support EU teachers in adopting interactive and learner-centered methodologies and in tackling the main themes of Glocal Education with their students in between 15 and 18 years of age.
Glocal education challenges the traditional division among environmental and social issues and opt for an alternative holistic learning approach. It suggests that environmental sustainability cannot be detached from other elements of the society such as rights, health, equality, intercultural relationships, etc.
Furthermore, it encompasses the idea that fostering social change towards a global sustainable and inclusive society for all requires providing younger generations with spaces and tools to reflect and react to global issues in the context of where they live. To explore what we mean by Glocal Education, read and comment our Manifesto.
